Safe City Cameras Leads to Identity of Shooting Suspect
Investigators then checked video from security cameras at homes and businesses in the Twin Lakes neighborhood, and detectives were able to positively identify the suspect's vehicle from multiple surveillance video recordings.
Police say that video evidence was the key.
"We were able to locate a vehicle on those cameras and then narrowing it down back into the residents. Using surveillance from neighbors is what helped us put the vehicle right in that general vicinity at the time," said Schwan.
Walker likes that the police were able to use city surveillance cameras to help track down the suspect.
"I think that's awesome and they should have them everywhere," she said.
Federal Way launched its Safe City Camera program in 2009.
